I should be wearing specialized shoes, however the pair I own is no longer working right for me. And since the company that had my shoes made moved, and no longer on the bus line, I had to do the next best thing, and that was buy off the shelf boots. This is where I relied on memory on the best boots that I wore before the specialized shoes, and that will be the Timberland brand. I bought the size 11 wide from Amazon at $165. Obviously, the color is black.
Good
I really like how they look, and obviously, they look relatively normal when compared to my old pedorthic shoes. While my left foot is pressing against the inner edge of the shoe, it is still a good look. It is something I am definitely confident in wearing. The boots appear to be of the standard of quality to what I remember. And while not as good as pedorthic shoes, it is my best option for what I have access to.
Bad
As with most shoes, one usually have to break their shoes in. They got to get the stiffness out, and reduce the pain that new shoes can sometimes bring. It would seem that almost 36 hours later, I am still breaking them in. My left foot which is my worse foot is having a much harder time dealing with the boot. I am hoping that the shoes will break in after this weekend. The pain isn’t as severe when standing, but it is more evident when walking. Because of my left foot, the foot is pressing on the interior of the boot which is probably a part of the contribution to the pain. Again, this is not an ideal solution, but the best one for me.
Ugly
There isn’t much more I could think of about the shoes that might discourage some. I really like the style, and the stableness of the boots, and my only complaint, I am hoping will fade away soon.
Conclusion
While $165 is a hard pill for someone like me to swallow, it is a pill well worth it. My right foot seems to be doing much better than my left foot, but that would be expected. Since I don’t have any other options, this is the only thing I can do if I want to wear shoes when going outside. I will still keep wearing them in, and hopefully the pain will go away.
